Sleep apnea is a new epidemic of our society and it’s connected to the food, it’s connected to the pollution, it’s connected also to the stress that we are going through. But very often it’s something that we can solve and I am one of the doctors who signed up for FDA approved appliances so that means we patient can file the appliance with the doctor with the sleep apnea and get some reimbursement from insurance so that will help patient also with the payment plan and they work the FDA approved even for very severe sleep apnea. So if you are not sure why you cannot breathe or why you have the problems that you wake up at night, there’s another symptoms that sometimes my patient cannot connect like ear pain, ringing in the ears, neck pain, problems with the swallowing, they don’t connect with the problems with not sleeping well, they always feel tired or they don’t feel themselves.
So there is always good to check with the dentist first if I am a good candidate for that oral appliance and then we work with the MD for the final diagnosis because the sleep apnea has to be diagnosed by the medical professional and then we can help during the treatment. So some of our patients who are wearing CPAP machine are more than welcome to come for the consultation to see if they are a good candidate for much smaller and effective oral appliance.
